Our Program

In our practice we treat obesity as a disease. It is a chronic disease. So our providers are not weight loss practitioners but Obesity Medicine Clinicians. It is a journey we will take together. To that measure, we offer a 6 month weight management program that includes extensive education and counseling around nutrition and a personalize fitness program. In addition, there is strong emphasis on psychotherapy and the factors that contribute to food addiction. Lastly, we will evaluate whether adding medication will help towards your goals.

30 Day Cleanse

Our 10 + 20 program is a 30- day transformative, physician-led journey designed to connect the dots between what you eat and how you feel. It begins with a 10-day elimination diet, followed by 20 days of slow reintroduction of food groups to identify how different foods affect your body. Throughout the program, you'll receive expert support, including weekly webinars on food, nutrition, and debunking common myths about healthy eating. This group program fosters peer support and includes personalized fitness plans with a trainer and mindfulness coaching from a clinical psychologist, ensuring comprehensive support for your weight loss journey.

Nutrition & Culinary Medicine


We will provide individualized nutritional therapy to help you reach your weight loss goals. Our obesity management practice puts strong emphasis on food as the most important tool to lose weight and maintain the weight loss. You will learn about carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, and their acceptable distribution in your diet. We will focus on nutrient, dense food and not calories. You will learn about saturated fats, polyunsaturated fats, trans-fat, and cholesterol. Our nutritional program will focus on reducing processed and ultra processed foods with a preference for nutrient dense, fresh foods, high in fiber and low in added sugars. We will also teach you about the micro nutrients needed for a healthy diet, including vitamin supplementation and foods rich in the needed micro nutrients. We will focus on low carbohydrate diet, high in polyunsaturated fats and omega-3- fatty acids. We will prescribe meal replacements when appropriate. We will incorporate intermittent fasting to a nutritional program for appropriate patients to achieve and maintain weight loss.

Weight Loss Medications

Prescription medications are a useful adjunct in a select group of patients to achieve their weight loss goals. For those who meet certain criteria, prescription medications can be added while still focusing on nutrition, physical activity, and psychotherapy. Before any medication is prescribed, we will go through an extensive consultation on the risks and benefits to you. No medication is without side effects and I truly believe that the way forward to achieving a sustainable weight loss is through the 3 pillars mentioned earlier: nutrition, physical activity and psychotherapy. It is also much more affordable to lose weight and maintain weight loss with these 3 tools than with medication.

Psychological Support


So many psychological factors go into what we eat, when we eat, and how much we eat. For example, for some, food is a surrogate for love and affection for oneself and others. Some of us use food to celebrate happiness and soothe sadness. Some of us use cooking and eating to avoid challenging activities or situations. And for others, food is used as a tool to avert boredom, fatigue, or stress. For some of us, our environment plays a key role in the timing of food and what we eat. Most of us are guilty of eating excessively due to perceived obligations in family gatherings and business meetings. The point is our psychology plays an important role in our food consumption and thus in our ability to manage our weight effectively.

The goal of adding behavioral therapy to your weight-loss program is to enhance adherence to a healthy eating pattern and to incorporate and maintain recommended physical activity goals. We will use a collaborative approach that is patient centered with a goal of invoking your own motivations and resources for change. The ultimate goal is to empower you to own the solution. We will help identify any eating disorders and use cognitive behavioral therapy to work through them, and ultimately help you reach your weight loss goal. 

We recognize that stress management is very important for weight management. We will help you with stress management tools, help you enlist social support where needed, help you work through stimulus control, self-monitoring, relapse prevention, training, and the reward cycle of food. We will help you identify thought processes and actions that are not in line with the goals you have set for your weight loss program.

Physical Fitness

We will prescribe an individualized physical activity plan, based on the latest research for effective and sustainable weight loss and all its health benefits. Physical activity decreases our hunger hormone, Grehlin, and increases satiety hormone and peptide YY thus making you feel full longer. It decreases appetite during and immediately after exercise so it’s an important part of your weight loss management.


Exercise must always be coupled with a good nutritional program as research has shown that exercise alone has a minimal effect on weight loss. However, it is very important for weight loss maintenance . We will perform an extensive pre-exercise evaluation history to assess your current fitness level, endurance, and mobility before prescribing an exercise program that will work for you. We will assess your readiness and agree on your expectations and goals with a written contract before customizing an exercise plan for you. We will assess the potential need for medical testing, such as cardiac stress testing, pulmonary function testing, and musculoskeletal assessments. We will individualize an exercise program for you taking into account any chronic medical conditions such as hypertension or diabetes and even make gym equipment modifications based on your mobility. Your physical activity prescription will include exercise frequency, intensity of exercise, time to be spent on each exercise, type of exercise, and even tailored to your level of enjoyment. As part of your comprehensive weight loss program, you will be assigned a virtual personal trainer who will prescribe goal specific workouts tailored to your needs.
